Gary Gach and "Pause, Breathe, Smile: Awakening Mindfulness When Meditation is Not Enough"
Gary Gach will be at Readers’ Books on Thursday, 9/20, at 7pm to read from and discuss Pause, Breathe, Smile. Mindfulness and meditation have been proven to be incredibly good for the mind and body, but sometimes the process is not always easy to access. Instead of giving up, keep in mind these three words: pause, breathe, smile. Gary Gach, who has spent over fifty years studying and practicing mindful living, brings us back to these basics in his latest book Pause, Breathe, Smile: Awakening Mindfulness When Medication is Not Enough. Addressing students of all levels, this book simplifies the three central aspects of mindful living, allowing the reader to explore mindfulness in their lives as a healing and transformative practice.
Gary Gach is the also author of The Complete Idiot's Guide to Buddhism and editor of What Book!? Buddha Poems From Beat to Hiphop. His work has appeared in multiple periodicals, including Buddhadharma, Lion's Roar, The New Yorker, and Yoga Journal. He resides in San Francisco and teaches regularly at the San Francisco Zen Center.
